Which is correct?
Answer and explanation
Correct answer: B. You should have told me.
- Step 1: After a modal verb we use 'have', not 'of'.
- Step 2: 'You should have told me' is standard English.
Answer
You should have told me.
Why not the others: You should of told me.: 'Of' is a mishearing of the contraction should've. You should of tell me.: This combines the error with an incorrect verb form. You should had told me.: 'Had' cannot follow 'should' in this way.
