By what age should a child be investigated for delayed walking if they have not walked independently?
Answer and explanation
Correct answer: A. 18 months
- Step 1: Developmental milestones vary but have limits beyond which assessment is needed. Step 2. Most children walk by 12 to 15 months, and failure to walk by 18 months warrants evaluation. Answer: 18 months. Why not the others: At 9 months few walk, so it is not abnormal. Twelve months is the middle of the normal range. Waiting until 30 months is too long to wait.
