A right prism of length 15 cm has a triangular cross-section with base 8 cm and perpendicular height 6 cm. Calculate the volume of the prism.
Answer and explanation
Correct answer: C. 360 cm³
- Step 1: Area of triangular base: A = 0.5 × base × height = 0.5 × 8 × 6 = 24 cm². Step 2. Volume of prism: V = base area × length = 24 × 15 = 360 cm³. Answer: 360 cm³. Why not the others: 720 cm³ forgets the 0.5 factor for triangle area; 180 cm³ halves the volume; 480 cm³ uses 8 × 6 × 10.
