Light passes from air into glass at an angle to the normal. How does the ray bend?
Answer and explanation
Correct answer: A. Toward the normal
- Step 1: Light slows down in glass, whose refractive index is higher. Step 2. By Snell's law the ray bends toward the normal. Answer: toward the normal. Why not the others: it would bend away from the normal when going from glass to air.
