A salesperson earns a basic salary of R4 000 plus 5% commission on sales. In one month her sales are R20 000. What is her total pay for the month?
Answer and explanation
Correct answer: C. R5 000
- Step 1: Commission = 5% of R20 000 = R1 000.
- Step 2: Total pay = R4 000 + R1 000 = R5 000.
Answer
R5 000.
Why not the others: R1 000: only the commission was found, the basic salary was left out. R14 000: the commission rate was divided by 10 instead of 100. R4 005: the rate was added as rand.
