A salesperson earns a basic salary of R3 000 plus 4% commission on sales. In one month her sales are R35 000. What is her total pay for the month?
Answer and explanation
Correct answer: D. R4 400
- Step 1: Commission = 4% of R35 000 = R1 400.
- Step 2: Total pay = R3 000 + R1 400 = R4 400.
Answer
R4 400.
Why not the others: R1 400: only the commission was found, the basic salary was left out. R17 000: the commission rate was divided by 10 instead of 100. R3 004: the rate was added as rand.
