A salesperson earns a basic salary of R3 500 plus 5% commission on sales. In one month her sales are R28 000. What is her total pay for the month?
Answer and explanation
Correct answer: B. R4 900
- Step 1: Commission = 5% of R28 000 = R1 400.
- Step 2: Total pay = R3 500 + R1 400 = R4 900.
Answer
R4 900.
Why not the others: R1 400: only the commission was found, the basic salary was left out. R17 500: the commission rate was divided by 10 instead of 100. R3 505: the rate was added as rand.
