A body slides down a smooth slope at an angle whose sine is 3/5. What is its acceleration? (take g = 10 m/s²)
Answer and explanation
Correct answer: D. 6 m/s²
- Step 1: On a smooth slope a = g sin θ. Step 2. a = 10 × 3/5 = 6 m/s². Answer: 6 m/s². Why not the others: 8 m/s² is what you get if you use the cosine instead of the sine. 10 m/s² is what you get if you ignore the slope. 1.2 m/s² is what you get if you square the sine.
