What is the pressure due to a column of liquid of density 800 kg/m³ and depth 5 m? (take g = 10 m/s²)
Answer and explanation
Correct answer: D. 40000 Pa
- Step 1: Pressure = ρgh. Step 2. p = 800 × 10 × 5 = 40000 Pa. Answer: 40000 Pa. Why not the others: 4000 Pa is what you get if you leave out g. 20000 Pa is what you get if you halve the result. 140000 Pa is what you get if you add atmospheric pressure.
