A body of volume 0.002 m³ is fully immersed in a liquid of density 1200 kg/m³. What is the upthrust? (take g = 10 m/s²)

Answer and explanation

Correct answer: B. 24 N

  1. Step 1: Upthrust = ρVg (weight of liquid displaced). Step 2. = 1200 × 0.002 × 10 = 24 N. Answer: 24 N. Why not the others: 2.4 N is what you get if you leave out g. 6000000 N is what you get if you divide by the volume. 48 N is what you get if you double the result.
