What happens in the brain while we sleep?
Sleep is as important for health as food and exercise. While we sleep, the brain stores new information and the body repairs itself. Teenagers need about eight to ten hours a night, but many sleep less because of homework, phones and late nights. Studies show that students who sleep too little find it harder to concentrate and are more likely to feel anxious. Experts advise going to bed at the same time each night, avoiding screens for an hour before sleep, and keeping the bedroom dark and quiet.
