What is enjambment?
Answer and explanation
Correct answer: C. A sentence or phrase that runs on from one line of verse into the next without a pause
- Step 1: The word comes from the French for stepping over. Step 2. The sense carries over the line break. Answer: a phrase running on into the next line. Why not the others: a mid-line pause is a caesura, and a line ending in a full stop is end-stopped.
