How many cells result from one complete round of mitosis in a diploid cell?
Answer and explanation
Correct answer: C. Two genetically identical diploid cells
- Step 1: Mitosis is one nuclear division followed by cytokinesis, and the chromosome number stays the same. Step 2. One parent cell therefore gives two identical diploid daughter cells. Answer: two identical diploid cells. Why not the others: four haploid cells come from meiosis, and four cells would need two divisions.
