To the Editor: Our town council has proposed closing the swimming pool at Riverside Park to save money. I strongly oppose this plan. The pool is the only place where many children in our neighborhood can learn to swim, and it also gives teenagers a safe place to spend summer afternoons. If the council wants to save money, it should look at other costs, such as the new parking lot downtown. A town that cares about its young people should keep the pool open. Sincerely, Daniel Ortiz
