Why is it called a cycle?
Water on Earth is constantly moving in a cycle. The sun heats water in oceans, lakes and rivers, and some of it evaporates into the air as vapor. As the vapor rises, it cools and condenses into tiny droplets that form clouds. When the droplets grow heavy, they fall back to the ground as rain, snow or hail. This water flows into streams and rivers or soaks into the ground, and the cycle begins again.
