If P(A and B) = 0.05 and P(B) = 0.5, what is P(A given B)?
Answer and explanation
Correct answer: A. 0.1
- Step 1: P(A | B) = P(A and B) ÷ P(B). Step 2. = 0.05 ÷ 0.5 = 0.1. Answer: 0.1. Why not the others: 0.5 is what you get if you divide by P(A). 0 is what you get if you multiply the probabilities. 10 is what you get if you invert the ratio.
