A shop sold 45, 89, 81 and 47 units in four successive quarters. What percentage of the yearly total was sold in quarter 2?

Answer and explanation

Correct answer: D. 34%

  1. Step 1: Yearly total = 262. Step 2. Share = 89 ÷ 262 × 100 = 34%. Answer: 34%. Why not the others: 51.4% is what you get if you divide by the other quarters only. 89% is what you get if you report the units as a percentage. 100% is what you get if you compare with the best quarter.
