A shop sold 29, 33, 38 and 76 units in four successive quarters. What percentage of the yearly total was sold in quarter 1?
Answer and explanation
Correct answer: D. 16.5%
- Step 1: Yearly total = 176. Step 2. Share = 29 ÷ 176 × 100 = 16.5%. Answer: 16.5%. Why not the others: 19.7% is what you get if you divide by the other quarters only. 29% is what you get if you report the units as a percentage. 38.2% is what you get if you compare with the best quarter.
