A pie chart shows the expenses of a family of Rs. 8,000 per month. Rent takes 35% of the budget. What is the central angle of the rent sector and the amount spent on rent?
Answer and explanation
Correct answer: C. 126 degrees and Rs. 2,800
- Step 1: The full circle is 360°, so 35% is 35 × 3.6 = 126°. Step 2. Amount = 35% of 8,000 = Rs. 2,800. Answer: 126 degrees and Rs. 2,800. Why not the others: 35 degrees and Rs. 2,800 is what you get if you use the percentage as the angle. 126 degrees and Rs. 28,000 is what you get if you misplace a power of ten in the amount. 63 degrees and Rs. 2,800 is what you get if you use 180 instead of 360 degrees.
