A driver at 108 km/h looks away from the road for 3 seconds. How many metres does the car travel in that time?
Answer and explanation
Correct answer: A. 90 m
- Step 1: Speed in m/s = 108 ÷ 3.6 = 30 m/s. Step 2. Distance = 30 × 3 = 90 m. Answer: 90 m. Why not the others: 324 m results from having treated km/h as m/s. 30 m results from having counted only one second. 120 m results from having added an extra second.
