- Step 1: dy/dx = 2x - 6 = 0 gives x = 3. Step 2. y = 9 - 18 + 5 = -4, so the turning point is (3, -4). Answer: (3, -4). Why not the others: (-3, 32) uses the wrong sign for x, (3, 4) has the wrong sign for y, and (6, 5) reads numbers from the equation.
