Why are the baskets 'heavy' by evening?
Every October, families in a hillside village gather to harvest olives. Children hold the nets while adults shake the branches. By evening the baskets are heavy, and the smell of fresh oil fills the courtyard. Maha's grandmother says the work is tiring but it keeps the family together.
Answer and explanation
Correct answer: A. A full day of picking has filled them with olives
- Step 1: The sentence follows a day of harvesting. Step 2. Heavy baskets suggest many olives have been collected. Answer: A full day of picking has filled them. Why not the others: the passage mentions none of the other causes.
