Read the passage and choose the best title.
Every October, when the olives are ripe, the families of the village gather in the groves on the hillside. Grandparents show the children how to pick the fruit with patient hands, so that the branches are not harmed. This tradition has been repeated for many generations. Laughter and old songs carry across the terraces while baskets slowly fill. At noon everyone sits under the oldest tree around a generous table of bread, olives and tea. By evening the family has gathered the crop for the year, and also the memories that make the work worth doing.
Answer and explanation
Correct answer: D. The yearly olive harvest and what it means to a village
- Step 1: Find the main idea: the passage is about families picking olives together. Step 2. A title should cover the whole passage, not one detail. Answer: The yearly olive harvest and what it means to a village. Why not the others: the other titles describe topics the passage never discusses.
