Which statement is best supported by the whole passage?

Every Thursday, a converted bus stops outside the market in Hamid's town. Its shelves hold about two thousand books, and the driver, Mrs Salma, knows the name of every child who borrows from it. Last year the town council planned to remove the service to save money, but more than three hundred residents signed a letter asking for it to stay. The council changed its decision and promised to keep the bus for at least two more years. Hamid, who now reads two books a month, says the bus did more than lend books: it made reading a habit for his whole street.

Answer and explanation

Correct answer: B. Public pressure from residents can change a council's decision about a service

  1. Step 1: More than three hundred residents signed a letter and the council then changed its plan. Answer: Public pressure can change a decision. Why not the others: The other statements use words such as never, only and always, which the passage does not support.
