Which statement best describes the author's attitude?
For much of the twentieth century, a library was judged by the number of books on its shelves. Today, many libraries measure success differently. They offer free internet access, quiet rooms for study, language classes and workshops on job applications. Some have set up small studios in which visitors can record audio or edit video. Critics worry that such services take space and money away from reading. Supporters reply that people who first come for a computer or a class often end up borrowing books, and that the library remains one of the few public places where anyone may stay without having to buy something.
