The perimeter of a square plot is 64 metres. What is the area of the plot?
Answer and explanation
Correct answer: A. 256 m²
- Step 1: A square has four equal sides, so side length s = Perimeter ÷ 4 = 64 m ÷ 4 = 16 m. Step 2. Area = s^2 = 16 m 16 m = 256 m². Answer: 256 m². Why not the others:* 128 m² multiplies 16 by 8; 196 m² is 14^2; 512 m² multiplies perimeter by 8.
