A ball is thrown vertically upwards at m/s and returns to its starting height. Taking m/s, what is its time of flight?
Answer and explanation
Correct answer: C. 3.0 s
- Step 1: At the top , so s. Step 2. By symmetry, the return takes another 1.5 s. Step 3. Total s. Answer: 3.0 s. Why not the others: 1.5 s is only the upward journey; 6.0 s doubles the total again; 0.67 s inverts the fraction .
