At 50 mph the thinking distance is 15 m and the braking distance is 38 m. What is the overall stopping distance?
Answer and explanation
Correct answer: A. 53 metres
- Step 1: Add the two parts together. Step 2. 15 + 38 = 53 m. Answer: 53 metres. Why not the others: 38 m ignores the thinking time, 23 m is the 30 mph figure, and 63 m is an addition error.
