Using the two-second rule, what gap in metres should you leave behind the car ahead when travelling at 72 km/h?
Answer and explanation
Correct answer: A. 40 m
- Step 1: At 72 km/h the car covers 20 m every second. Step 2. Two seconds covers 2 x 20 = 40 m. Answer: 40 m. Why not the others: 20 m: 20 m is only a one-second gap. 36 m: 36 m halves the km/h figure and ignores the conversion. 60 m: 60 m is a three-second gap.
