A driver at 36 km/h looks away from the road for 2 seconds. How many metres does the car travel in that time?
Answer and explanation
Correct answer: A. 20 m
- Step 1: Speed in m/s = 36 ÷ 3.6 = 10 m/s. Step 2. Distance = 10 × 2 = 20 m. Answer: 20 m. Why not the others: 72 m results from having treated km/h as m/s. 10 m results from having counted only one second. 30 m results from having added an extra second.
