What do some psychologists believe about boredom?

Children today are rarely bored, and some psychologists worry that this is a loss. Boredom, they argue, pushes the mind to find its own entertainment, developing imagination and independence. Researcher Dr Kate Lyons asked parents to remove screens for one afternoon a week; after a month, many reported that children had invented games, built dens and even started reading. Lyons is careful to say that the study was small and cannot prove cause and effect. She also stresses that she is not against technology, only against the idea that every spare moment should be filled.
